Why We Can’t Import Containers Right Now (And What That Means for You)

If you’ve been wondering why our usual flood of international treasures has slowed to a polite trickle, here’s the inside scoop — served with honesty, a little humor, and zero corporate jargon.

The World Is Complicated… and So Are Containers

Importing a container isn’t as simple as loading up a ship and waving goodbye. It’s more like trying to coordinate a family reunion where half the relatives live overseas, the other half forgot what time it starts, and someone misplaced the paperwork.

Right now, the global shipping world is doing its best impression of a traffic jam:

  • Ports are backed up
  • Shipping schedules are unpredictable
  • Costs have skyrocketed
  • Customs delays are longer than a DMV line
  • And freight companies are changing rules faster than we can read them

In short: the container system is temporarily upside‑down, and we’re not about to gamble your inventory on chaos.

We’d Rather Wait Than Deliver Disappointment

We could try to force a container through the system… but that’s how you end up with:

  • Damaged goods
  • Missing items
  • Delayed shipments
  • Surprise fees
  • And a whole lot of frustration

That’s not how we do business. We want your treasures to arrive safely, affordably, and on time — not in a state of “well, it survived the ocean… mostly.”

The Good News: We’re Still Packed With Amazing Inventory

Even without containers, our two‑story shop is overflowing with:

  • Furniture
  • Jewelry
  • Glassware
  • Garden pieces
  • Oddities
  • And new arrivals coming in daily

We’re still buying locally, still curating constantly, and still finding incredible pieces from estates, collectors, and private sellers.

Containers Will Return — And We’ll Celebrate When They Do

As soon as the shipping world stops acting like a circus, we’ll be back to importing the big loads you love. Trust us, we miss those treasure-packed containers just as much as you do.

  • Until then, thank you for your patience, your curiosity, and your sense of adventure. The Antique Company Inc is still full of surprises — they’re just arriving one piece at a time instead of 40 feet at once.
