Sometimes antique teak furniture can have streaks on the surface. One problem that could cause streaks is soap residue, especially if an oil soap was used. For regular maintenance of your teak furniture, you should only have to dust it regularly with a soft cloth. Every now and again, you can mix a mild detergent with tepid water. Wipe a dampened rag across, moving with the grain, and then dry with a rag.

To prevent damage, never place planters directly on the wood. Moisture can warp the surface. Likewise, use coasters for drinks. Finally, avoid placing the furniture so it's in direct sunlight, which can alter the coloration and even dry out the wood.
